B's Zebra Jaywalkers

If my camera were working, I'd post a pic of B's zebra socks. I finished them Christmas Eve and he has not shown any interest in them since unwrapping them Christmas Day. I almost got him to wear them today, but then he decided he wanted ORANGE socks instead. (Note to self: if you ever see orange sneakers in his size, buy them.) My knitting group really wants to see a pic of the two of us wearing our Zebra jays. If it ever happens, and I have a working camera, I'll share.

That's one more FO for 2006.

I'm plugging away on my B-i-L's birthday scarf. I'm just over half done. I've got two Red Scarves on the needles to finish up. I did complete a beautiful lengthwise garter stitch scarf in Butterfly by D'Vie, but no pics. I'm working on a matching hat. If I can bear to part with them, I'm giving them to my admin as a belated holiday gift.

I cannot wait to start working on B's birthday sweater. It's Bounce from Miss B's Seaside. I'm working it in Twilley's Freedom Denim I got on sale at Herrschner's. Swatching will commence tomorrow (or tonight if I get bored with the scarves).

No news on the electronic gremlins haunting me. Polaroid confirmed no warranty without proof of purchase (no we don't still have the receipt) and no quote yet from the repair place. Haven't touched the printer or DVD cam.

B only cried for 5 minutes last night after I put him to bed. Schedules are the greatest thing in the world for toddlers! Two days at school and he's getting the hang of it.

one down

I finished the first zebra jay for Billy last night. I'd post a pic, but blogger's being a pain. It's really cute! I'd like to get him to try it on before I knit up the second one, but I know my kid and he'd refuse to take it off and be irate that I don't have one for the other foot yet. So, I'll knit #2 just like #1 and hope for the best.

I spent last night making vegetarian chili for our work potluck lunch today. With Billy's school holiday pageant last night and the sewing the night before, I feel like I haven't watched TV in days. Let's see it's Wednesday, what's on tonight?

Poor Kirk. He's been sitting, dry, on the blockin board for over a week. I really ought to start work on seaming him up. Dad's birthday is next Friday and they'll be here for dinner.

Secret Santa sewing and a gusset

My work knitting group is doing a Secret Santa gift exchange. I finally finished up my gift last night. The rules were that the gift had to be knitting-related and between $10 and $20 dollars. I made my giftee a tote and some stitch markers.
Fabric was a cotton remnant from Joanns with purchased handles.

Unfortunately, my giftee is travelling and will miss the get-together and I can only stay for a few minutes.

I finished the gusset on Billy's first zebra jay this morning. I hope to have this one finished today or tomorrow. Since I have to cook chili tonight for our departmental potluck tomorrow, a finished sock tonight might be unreasonable. I don't think these will be making into B's stocking this weekend.

turned a heel

I turned the first heel today. Much working on the B's zebra jays in the car this weekend, dropping him off at church for the second week of ADVENTure, driving to stores to finish shopping, picking him up, going home, driving back to church on Sunday. I'd take a pic but not only does my camera need to be charged, I left it at home.

I put my dressform together over the weekend. I was very anxious that it would be missing pieces as it was obviously a return (there was a second address label and the box was re-taped with brown tape). Fortunately, all the pieces are there. She's hanging in the living room near the tree. I had wrapped her in some festive green velvet, but Molly would not stop barking at the headless woman in the pretty dress.

Hubby bought a car on Saturday. A nice red, H3. Unfortunately, as the salesman was opening the back door to tape in the temp plate, he scratched it. Hubby had them cancel everything, but will go back later this week to see how the repairs went. Why yes, he is trying to get them to compensate us for taking a damaged model.

Question: Why is it the debit for the down payment showed up on our account within hours, but the credit that was swiped 15 minutes later will show up by midnight today, two full days later?

In other news, my middle sister will not be coming to visit with Mom, Dad, New Bride and B-i-L. I'd be bothered, but she's finally got a pretty serious boyfriend, and I can't begrudge her a life of her own. I'll miss her, though. Especially, the whiny, crankiness she usually brings to all family affairs. Whoops! That was a bit snarky!

Hey, Julie. Your package went out in the mail today. I'm not sure if it will get to you before you travel for the holiday. If not, you'll have a little more Christmas when you get back!

Mini Jays for the B

Since Billy was so taken with my Zebra Jays, I started a pair for him on the way home from SC over Thanksgiving. I hadn't touched them since until this morning. Aren't they cute? I just started the patterning. To re-size I cut the number of stitches between the points to 5. I'd like to give them to him for Christmas. Think I can finish up in 9 days?

Hat and mittens are felted and are on the blocking board to dry.

Hope to start seaming Kirk this weekend.

Last night, I picked up some little goodies to go out in Julie's prize package.

more pictures from home

No sewing today. I really want to finish my felted bucket hat and mittens before the next cold snap.

Note, one of the readings at church (I think the New Testament reading) mentioned the fuller's soap.

I am going to show you the finished ballbands and zebra jays I photographed eons ago.

Zebras still aren't completely finished. I haven't woven in the ends, which means I haven't worn them yet. Soon enough.
