I did swatch, following the sl wyif instructions, and got the pattern that is in the book. Here's a pic of what I had purling on RS (on top) and slipping with yarn on the right side (on bottom). I like them both, but the slipped stitch is definitely the design element Kim Hargreaves had in mind. So, I'll be ripping my repeat tonight and starting over again.
